A successful application to top tier colleges requires a lot more than good grades and test scores. It requires a competitive edge, strategic essays, cohesive themes, killer recommendation letters, and interview strategy. It requires a complex formula that = part hours and hours of research, part deep learning, and part out of the box creative thinking.

Hi, I’m Cathleen McCaffery
I’m a college counselor who helps smart, motivated, and driven students around the world achieve their big bold dreams through education.
I have a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing from USC, College Counseling training from UCLA, and I’m a member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA). I only work with students I know I can help succeed.
Let’s be honest: Most high school counselors aren’t going to give you a personalized strategy to get into the colleges of your dreams. Becoming a high school counselor includes almost no training in college admissions. That’s right! But, it’s not their fault. The average counselor to student ratio is 407:1. Imagine having 407 kids to be responsible for!! Sheesh…
You’re not going to get the white glove, customized strategy, meet with you once a week to brainstorm AMAZING essays and edit them like a pro at your high school. And even if it’s the fanciest, best high school in the country. Believe me, I went to one!
But I know that if you can dream it, you can do it (thanks Walt Disney).
